Jason Seymour was born in Chad, Africa, to Mark and Debbie Seymour, missionaries with Baptist Mid-Missions. Jason was saved at the age of five after a VBS service in his state-side home of Ohio, but he lived in Chad for the majority of his life until his teens. Jason came to Piedmont in the fall of 2002 where he became a leader in a number of extra-curricular activities. He was active in the Κηρυσσομεν Χριστον ("We preach Christ") Student Fellowship serving as its President for one year. During his tenure as President, he led the group in creating a constitution and doing several campus and community events. He was also the Vice-President in the 2004 school year for the 2006 graduating class and was the Vice-President for the 2007 graduating class in the 2006-2008 school years. In addition, Jason was a men's dorm Resident Assistant for a total of three school years and the two summers in between.

Jason has always loved working with those younger than himself. He worked as a camp counselor for two summers following high school and then as a camp director for one summer at a day camp ministry owned a rescue mission in Ohio. From 2002 through the summer of 2009, he continuously ministered to the 3rd-6th graders at his local church, whether in Winston-Salem or in Ohio. This 3rd-6th grade ministry included such things as leading games, teaching, participating in VBS ministry, discipling, and driving a van to pick up and drop off kids. Jason also often accompanied this age group to summer camp as a church sponsor. Starting around 2005, Jason was made the chief adult leader of the boys and a chief teacher in the AWANA ministry. In addition, he created, led, and taught the summer ministries for this age group at his local church from 2005 to 2009 since there was no summer ministry for them prior to that. He continues to love this age group and looks back with fond memories at those years.

Over the years, Jason also assisted occasionally with the teen ministry at his local church. He also served as a church trustee, including chief trustee, for several years. Starting in the fall of 2007, Jason was asked to take over leading and teaching of the College and Career Ministry at his local church in Winston-Salem and gladly fulfilled this role until the fall of 2015. Following this transition, Jason has been especially thankful that he still has a means of ministering to college students through his work at Piedmont.

Books and reading have always been a part of Jason’s life, so it was fitting that when Jason came to Piedmont in the fall of 2002, he began working in the University library. He became the Office Manager part-time starting in the fall of 2004 and joined Piedmont's full-time staff in 2006. He is now the Assistant Library Director and is thankful for the impact he has had and continues to have on the school and students, especially the library student workers, through this job. He is currently working on a Masters in Library and Information Studies degree at UNC-Greensboro and hopes to finish the fall of 2017.

Teaching and languages were things Jason enjoyed even from childhood, and they have played a large part in his adult life. During his studies at Piedmont, Jason earned the Expository Preaching Award, but he especially excelled in his Greek classes and was awarded the Zondervan Greek Award. During his senior year of undergraduate study at Piedmont, Jason began work on a Masters in Biblical Studies at Piedmont. He received his Bachelors in 2007 and his Masters in 2011, both summa cum laude, and received Piedmont's undergraduate Award of Excellence as well. He dreamed of teaching Greek one day and was blessed to be asked to teach Greek at Piedmont starting in the fall of 2011. He now teaches all the undergraduate Greek classes at Piedmont and occasionally teaches the Masters level students as well. Jason makes his students work hard, but they consistently love him and his classes, and they greatly appreciate the wonderful preparation they receive for using Greek in ministry and for more advanced studies in seminary.

In 2011, Jason was married to Bethany Moore and has been blessed with a wonderful partner, teammate, and friend with whom to share life and ministry. Bethany teaches high school English at local Calvary Day School and is the Provost for the Piedmont Renewal Network. She enjoys the opportunity to teach and minister to her students. Jason and Bethany have one son, Alan Marcus, born in April 2016, but they also have a high-school exchange student from China, Lisa, who has become a true part of the family. Besides his academic and ministry interests, Jason loves reading, movies, and table games.

As his theme verse, Jason endeavors to live out Luke 17:10, “So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’”
